24/1 Janda Baik to Nuang

Another killer trek…… I donno why I’m doing this…… really muddy and slippery and by the time I reach the summit my legs covered in mud and shirt and pants all dirty…… got one time I stepped in the mud, then my whole foot sink in, then when I pull out my leg, the shoe still stuck in the mud……. like maliau basin the first night lah……. pulled it out, got rid of the some mud, don’t care just wear back……. Mr Law joining us for trekking yesterday, so most of the time accompany him, just like in Nepal, chatting lah…… I already warn him that the trek is whole day trek, better bring enough water and snacks…. so at the summit he was eating maggie mee out of the packaging, like mamee …. he said that’s the only thing he could find in the cupboard……..apparently, eating like this is quite common especially among the university students in the western countries………..

Yesterday morning, was really good weather and nice view, the trek from Janda Baik nice view, misty, cloudy and pass by some farms planting french beans, four angle beans etc……. lucky thing didn’t rain, looked like it was going to rain but didn’t rain… just a slight drizzle… but the trees covered us so not so wet………..

Big group, met the famous Ben Sia …. he didn’t look so much like a crazy guy like what I expected….  also there was a tall indian guy who was going to lead the trail because they are familiar with the trail……… yes the trekking from Janda Baik is much easier than starting from the otherside …… river easier to cross, path not so steep, and nice scenery ….  anyway big group, 5-6 cars I think….. like a convoy, row of cars driving towards janda baik…..

First kilometer trekking gradual uphill cross one small river, pass by some farms, then after that enter the jungle trail, go under some fallen bamboo trees, slippery muddy…. shoes like no grip….. then trek trek trek in the jungle… caught up with Mr Law…. Chia, Shoo Chan, Jessie, Mee Ling, Ong, Min Yee… all somewhere ahead…….. slowly walk up lah…. clear trail, but not so wide/exposed like the other side….. can see a few leeches…. but this time donno why I’m not worried… didn’t wear leech socks, didn’t spray any mosiguard… after trek discovered only one leech bite……. saw one big fat tiger leech on a leaf…. I think that one already bite shoo chan and she left it there on the leaf…….. so fat fella……. will put up the photo soon……. oh yah didn’t take many photos because camera no battery…………..

I think took about 4 hours to reach the summit, towards the end got some section need to use ropes….. slippery… Mr Law slip on a rock and fell to the side … about 2 feet down… lucky thing no broken bones, took a few minutes to figure out how to get him out because so slippery and muddy, can’t pull him out otherwise I also fall down.. but lucky thing one of the guys we were trekking with help us…. use one of  the ropes on the trail to pull him out…. Mr Law is ok, just a scratch and abit of blood on the right knee…. he said the trek quite tough….. abit too challenging, but he’s ok, he made it to the top and made it back down………. I think about 98% of the whole group made it to the summit …. including Andrew….

Up there, makan some chap fan that I tapau, with some salted egg that mr law ask me to buy ……. UY bought some bananas and he said he just ate a few and gave the rest to the fat squirrels on the top ……. lucky thing I brought alot of food today….. orange, peas, heong peng, pringles, and mee ling gave me an apple……. but stomach already getting big after eating the chap fan…………

Finished trekking down, about 6.30pm…… wash shoes in the river, change etc…….. wait for the rest to come down….. Edwin and a few others came out of the jungle quite late, just before it got dark ….

Then … MAKAN…….. went back the the restaurants near the highway to have some nice food and fruits…… passion fruit, papaya, mango, jambu merah……. they ordered steamed fish, frog with ginger, yong tou fu, four angle beans, vegetable, pork curry etc……. Mr Law and UY also joined us for dinner…….. after that Min Yee followed us back so she can tumpang Mr Law back to Ipoh…….. ok, the end… enjoy life….another wonderful outing organized by Chia..

Very detail narration. I m the guy that pulled Mr. Law up. I was so worry when he slipped down beside me. I guess it is more than 2 feets, probably 4 feets deep. Thanks god that he didn’t suffer any injuries. It was very slippery on the rock surface with the mud left behind by the trekkers. Hardly find a steady place where I can stand to pull him up. Finally I managed to grap on some tree branches with my right hand and pulled him with my left hand. Anyway I m very happy 98% could make it to the summit. It would be different if we go via the Ulu Langat trail. Last time I took around six hours to reach the summit via Langat. If I m not mistaken, we actually took around 4 hours 45 minutes to reach the summit. I remember we start trekking at 9:00am and reached summit at 1:45pm.
