20 minute flight from Bali to Lombok

Bus from airport to senaru ... few hours..

Evening and we have our dinner in a guesthouse in Senaru.
Rice with egg, beans, fried chicken, nangka curry, keropok .. and pineapple

Briefing on the Rinjani trek by Amet our mountain guide..

First night in Lombok ...

Next morning.. wake up around 6.15am for the sunrise and breakfast.

Took a small van to the starting point of the trek and the registration office...

Start trekking at about 9.30 am

That's the summit... looks so near....

Camp site.. toilet is... anywhere and everywhere...

Evening.. getting very cold... can't see the lake, covered by clouds..

Sunset... no pain no gain...

Me and Jenny, my room mate, in our tent. They provide air matress, so quite comfortable.. getting colder now, having hot cup of tea..
Slept at around 8am after dinner....

Start trekking to summit around 3 am...

Amet our mountain guide following us to make sure we are safe...

Rocky terrain .... at a 45 degree angle ...

hmmm.... the summit is just around the corner ...still looks so far...and look at all the loose rock ... I think I'll stop here...

Ok I give up... I can't take it anymore..

Climb back down... sun has come up... getting warmer and I'm still wearing my 3 layers plus my jacket....

Rest a few hours and trek down to the lake in the
middle of the volcano...

Wow.. nice scenery on the way to hot springs... beautiful...

Hot spring... and its free... time for a good bath...
