Mt. Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia

(19th July 2006 - 24th July 2006)
Ok, back from Kota Kinabalu. Didn't manage to make it to the Mt. Kinabalu summit. It was raining and freezing. Overall the trip was a very good experience for me.

2 am. All dressed up in commando gear to climb to the summit. Had to stop at Sayap-Sayap hut after climbing for about 1 hour. It was raining and freezing. My gloves were wet. It was like putting your hand in ice water. And every step I had to take a deep breath. Had to climb another 3 more hours to reach the summit but decided not to go on.

The guides and climbers all waiting at Sayap-sayap hut for the rain to stop.
Guide said "Ah Moi, jangan sedih. Gunung tak lari, nyawa satu saja."
(Don't be sad, mountain won't run away, you only have one life.)

This photo taken by Chia in 2003 shows the route we had to climb.
Imagine climbing this in the middle of the night.
It was a really good experience for me.

This is where we stayed, no heater. Ready to leave and start climbing back down.

*sigh* .. bye bye ...
